Elisabeth

I have a great passion for Empress Elisabeth of Austria - for the real Elisabeth not the "Sissi" .(Perhaps you know this german films, are from the early 50ies)
I have seen those films at Tv when i was thirteen. After that i was very interested in to know, if her real life was the same as in the film.
At this time i lived in the former GDR and could not buy a biography of her. ( In the GDR you couldn't buy all those things that you could in a free, democratic land and couldn't speek without danger over political themes ) So, my uncle from Western Germany sent me a biography of Empress Elisabeth.
I ripped of the parcel, took the book in my hand and couldn't stopping to read. I red where i sat and went to. It was the beginning of my passion and today i have over fifty books about Elisabeth and her family.
For my whole live, i liked to draw. To relax myself and lern to look better and more accurate while drawing, i began to copy photographs and drawings from Elisabeth. Its a great pleasure for me.
At this drawing she wears a pearl necklace, she got from her husband the Emperor. It was a present on the occasion of the bith of the Crownprince Rudolf - the birth of that famous Crownprince, shootet himself in Mayerling thirty years later.
Best regards, Susann
